Dear Parents and Guardians,
Hello from Akron, Ohio! It is my father's 60th birthday and I am in Ohio for a family reunion. I'll be heading back to the Bay Area on Monday afternoon, and will see you all on Tuesday morning. Chen Lao Shi will be subbing for me on Monday, and has a fun day of activities planned for the students!
I have uploaded a few pictures from last Monday''s radish planting session as well as some scattered photos from our Apple Week activities. You can see the students chopping apples for last Thursday's Dragon Applesauce. It was fun and easy, and our classroom smelled so wonderful all day long! I didn't get a chance to take pictures during the apple painting process (too much paint on my hands!), but there's a photo of all of the beautiful artwork at the end. There are also a few photos from our do-apples-sink-or-float experiment last Wednesday. We made predictions, discussed the reasons for our guesses, and then tested our theory. The result...apples FLOAT!
Some updates and reminders for this week:
Book Orders Due Monday, September 29th
This year, we have 2 different book clubs. Our Mandarin books will be ordered from chinesebooksforchildren.com, while our English books will come from Scholastic. Both book orders are due on Monday, September 29th. For Scholastic books, please either: (1) visit the website and use the code N43C7 to access the Dragon order page, or (2) turn in your form and check in your child's homework folder. For the Mandarin books, please take a look at the sample books (in a blue bin right inside the Dragon class doorway) and return the order form with your child's homework. Here is a PDF of the form:
